John Barr

John Barr is Senior Counsel with Fleishman-Hillard Canada, based in Vancouver. Mr. Barr’s widespread reputation as a communication strategist and advisor is based on 30 years’ experience working closely with executives in industry, government and the not-for-profit sector.

His career path includes senior positions in the resources industry and government and more than 16 years as a consultant in Toronto and Vancouver. He was previously a Vice President with GPC Public Affairs in Vancouver, and prior to that was co-founder and Principal of one of Vancouver’s largest public relations firms.

Mr. Barr holds a Master’s degree in Political Science and has written two books on history and current affairs, together with numerous journal articles and entries in The New Canadian Encyclopedia. He has also published two Internet e-books: How to Crisis-Proof Your Organization, and How to Create a Strategic Communication Plan That Works.

Mr. Barr has led a number of groundbreaking consulting projects and his work has won several national and international awards for professional excellence.
